Lorene Mary Bauer, age 89 of St. Paul, MN, formerly of the Ellsworth area, passed away July 18, 2021 at United Hospital in St. Paul, MN. Lorene was born January 17, 1932 in Hillman, MN to Michael and Caroline (Wacker) Kapsner. She was united in marriage to Edward Jacob Bauer on May 25, 1953. Their marriage was blessed with seven children and 66 years of love and devotion, until Edward’s passing in September 2019. Lorene lovingly raised her family and helped Edward with their family farm. She also worked as a nurse’s aide for many years.
Lorene enjoyed gardening and was meticulous in tending to her flowers and vegetables. She worked hard canning and freezing the bounty of her labors. She loved polka music and dancing, and found great joy in playing the harmonica. Lorene also delighted in playing cards, especially enjoying the games of Up the Creek and Down, Michigan Rummy and Euchre. Most important to Lorene was her deep devotion to her faith and her steadfast love for her family.
Lorene will remain in the hearts of her children, Kathy (Mike) Ebert, Edward Jr. (Cathy) Bauer, Mary Bauer-Tassi (Glenn Tassi), Debby (Dana) Cain, Mark Bauer, Sandy Schwan and Caroline Bauer (Derick Jensen); many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Alice (Gerry) Lange; and brothers, Virgil (Grace) Kapsner and Herbert (Marie) Kapsner; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward; and her parents, Michael and Caroline Kapsner.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place 11:00 AM Friday, July 23, 2021 at St. Francis Catholic Church, 231 W Woodworth St., Ellsworth, with Fr. David Olson officiating. The Mass will be livestreamed to: https://youtu.be/ouvGazFeIqA. Visitation will take place one hour prior to Mass at church. Interment will follow at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery. Memorials are preferred as Masses said in her honor.
