Joyce Geister age 97 of Ellsworth, died peacefully November 16, 2021 at Preferred Living in Ellsworth. Joyce was born October 13, 1924 to Bernard and Nellie (Todd) Bengtson. She graduated from Maiden Rock High School in 1943. She then lived in Red Wing where she worked for several years at LaGrange Shoe Company.  Joyce married Eugene Geister on September 1, 1951 at the United Lutheran Church in Red Wing, MN. This was a double wedding with her sister Mariel to Vernon Ketel. Joyce enjoyed gardening, baking, crocheting, playing piano, jigsaw puzzles, bingo, word search and was an avid Twins fan. For the last six years Joyce lived at Preferred Senior Living in Ellsworth. The family would like to thank the staff of Preferred Senior Living and Moments Hospice for their excellent and compassionate care.

She is survived by her children Gary (JoAnne) Geister, John (Nancy) Geister, Kathie Geister, Nancy (Kurt Bowman) Foley, Julie (Jerry) Baggenstoss, Jeanette (Greg) Tschida, and Carol (Mark) Melstrom. 14 Grandchildren Kaira (Brad) Lansing, Wayne (April) Geister, Derek (Cindi Hart) Geister, Shawn (Dan) McCusker, Jessica (Scott) Kauffman, Courtney (Jesse Sullivan) Hayes, Donny (Alyssa) Foley, Bobby Foley, Nicole (Jasen) Cook, Mallorie (Daniel) Daleiden, Melanie (Jake) Charette, Cody Tschida, Riley (Kendra Thoen) Melstrom, and Logan (Mallory Bleeker) Melstrom. 12 Great grandchildren Destinee Struemke, Mikayla Geister, Joey McCusker, Noelle McCusker, Jaxon Charette, Arya Charette, Quinlynn Cook, Kaiden Baggenstoss, Kooper Daleiden, Kinzleigh Daleiden, Thomas Hayes, and Iris Sullivan. Also survived by sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Lloyd & Phyllis Kinneman and Mike & Arlene Cahill, along with many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband Eugene, step-grandson Tommy Tschida, her siblings Thomas Bengtson, Margaret Sundberg and Mariel Ketel along with brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Vernon Ketel, Benard Sundberg, Norman & Stella Geister, Vernon & Shirley Geister, David & Lucy Geister and Gerald Geister.

Funeral service for Joyce Geister will be  11AM Monday, November 22nd at English Lutheran Church In Ellsworth. Visitation will be on Sunday, November 21st from 4pm to 7pm at the English Lutheran Church of Ellsworth as well as one hour prior to the service at church Monday morning. . Burial will be in the Pine Glen Cemetery.
