Deanna Roen

Deanna Roen, age 84 of Prescott, died peacefully at her home January 3rd, 2022 with family by her side. Deanna was born on March 19, 1937 in St. Louis, Missouri the daughter of Glenn and Evelyn (Mortenson) Blunt. She was raised in St. Louis before graduating from Mason City High School in Iowa. She received her Master’s Degree in music and choir from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa in 1961.

Music became the love of her life by teaching private piano lessons, high school music, and directing the Joy Lutheran Choral and Bell Choir. She was honored by receiving the prestigious WMTA Music Teacher Award of Excellence.

On August 12, 1961, she was united in marriage to Kenneth M. Roen at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mason City, Iowa. Over the years, she enjoyed her time sewing clothes for the family, cross stitching keepsakes, and crocheting afghans and blankets for her children and grandchildren.

They have been charter and active members of Joy Lutheran Church in Prescott for almost 50 years. She also owned and operated the K-D-Did Gift Shop for many years where she enjoyed being a part of the Prescott community.

Many will remember Ken and Deanna at many family functions as they catered food and cakes for any occasion. She always felt honored baking for the community and helping create great memories along the way. She and Ken were also avid travelers. They enjoyed many good times and never ending laughter traveling with Ken’s siblings and creating incredible memories on their trips to Norway, Australia, New Zealand, Holland, Budapest, and Branson, Missouri.

Deanna is preceded in death by her parents Glenn and Evelyn Blunt and sister Connie Nelson. She leaves a legacy of love with her husband of 60 years Kenneth; children Randall (Sharon) Roen, Greta (Dennis) Fliegal, Elsa (Radley) Seuferer, and Eric (LaShelli) Roen. She also leaves behind eight grandchildren and one great grandchild.

A private service honoring her was held at Joy Lutheran Church with Pastor Steve Meyer officiating.  A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Serving as active casket bearers were Eric Roen, and grandchildren Curtis Fliegel, Marissa Roen, Dayton Seuferer, Jacob Roen, and Bjorn Roen. Honorary casket bearers were grandchildren Sadie Goodrum, Emily Seuferer, and Thor Roen. Memorials may be given in her honor to Joy Lutheran Church, 1435 St. Croix St., Prescott, Wisconsin 54021 or to the funeral home. Memorials will be allocated to Deanna’s favorite organizations.

Funeral services have been entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Homes at 130 North Grant Street, Ellsworth, WI 54011.
