Robert Lindholm

Robert Arthur Lindholm, age 85 of Hammond died Monday, April 23, 2012 at the American Heritage Care Center in Hammond. Robert was born on May 18, 1926 in Hayward, Wisconsin; the son of Arthur and Philomena (Seymour) Lindholm. He attended elementary school in Exeland and graduated from Bruce High School. In 1944, he enlisted in the armed forces where he proudly served for the United States Army during World War II. Upon his honorable discharge, he would date and later marry the former Janice Hamilton in Bruce, Wisconsin. This union would be blessed with three children. He furthered his education at the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire where he received his bachelor’s degree in teaching. He began a long and rewarding career as a high school teacher. He began teaching in Flambeau for a couple of years before taking a position at St. Croix Central High School. He taught math and science there for over thirty-five years. He educated hundreds of students over this period; including generations of the same family. Many will remember ‘Mr. Lindholm’ as a strict disciplinarian who strived to bring out the best in every student. Although his stern demeanor could be intimidating; it gave him the greatest gratification in seeing his students reach their full potential. He would retire from St. Croix Central in 1988. During his time off in the summer, he held a variety of jobs, one of the most memorable, being a carpenter for Harry Hopp building houses. He thoroughly enjoyed carpentry projects, creating wood crafts with his wife, playing golf, and working around the yard. He took pleasure from trout fishing and camping on Beaver Dam Lake in Cumberland.

Robert is survived by his children Bruce (Patricia) Lindholm of Eau Claire, Randy Lindholm of Everett, Washington, and Pamela Zeman of Green Bay; grandchildren Heath Lindholm of Connecticut, Heather (Fred) Fronczek of Connecticut, Gregory (Corrine) Kamm of Maryland; great grandchildren Nicole Lindholm of Connecticut, and Skyler Kamm and Mason Kamm both of Maryland; as well as his sister Marjorie Wangen of Eau Claire.
