Joseph Schulz

Joseph Anthony Schulz, age 72 of Hudson, passed away on September 21, 2013 at the American Heritage Care Center in Hammond.  Joseph was born December 1, 1940 in Chicago, IL; the son of Joseph and Mary Schulz.  Joe proudly served his country in the US Air Force from 1958 – 1961.  He was married to Beverly in 1961 and was blessed with two children, Donna and Jeff. Joe retired from Burlington Northern Railroad after many years of faithful service. 

Joseph had a great appreciation for the outdoors.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing and trap shooting.  He was a lifetime member of the Hudson Rod, Gun, and Archery Club, Inc.  Joe was proud to have taught hunters safety course to hunters for 25+ years.  He was also a lifetime member of the NRA and American Legion. Joe was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather who will be dearly missed.  

Joseph will remain in the hearts of his loving wife of 52 years, Beverly; children, Donna Schulz of Hudson and Jeff (Jamie) Schulz of Clear Lake; grandchildren, Eric, Jaylea, and Jed; sister, Theresa Dorjath of IL; nieces and nephews: Eva Schulz, Mary Kay (Danny) Loizzi, Joe (Vicki) Dorjath and Christina (Greg) Mitchell.  He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Nick and John Schulz; nephews: Nick, Norbert, and Bobby; niece, Ann Marie; and his grandson, David.

A Memorial Service will take place 3:00 PM Friday, September 27, 2013 at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Hudson.  Joe’s service to his country will be honored immediately following the service.  A Gathering of Family and Friends will follow from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
