Marcella A. Lewis, age 93, of Hudson WI, died on Thursday, September 11, 2014, surrounded by the love of her family. Marcella was born on January 19, 1921 in River Falls Wi to parents Frank and Anna (Bedleir) Matzek. Like many of her generation, Marcella attended country school through the 8th grade. On October 5, 1940, she would be united in marriage to Charles Orin Lewis in Hudson. Their union in marriage would be blessed with six children. Orin would precede her in death in 1987.

Marcella worked for many years with the Hudson Hospital, retiring as the manager of the custodial department after 27 years of service. Outside of work, Marcella kept busy raising six children, as well as vegetable gardening, canning vegetables, and baking. Marcella also loved playing cards, crocheting, mastering puzzles, and playing Bingo. Marcella will be remembered for her role as both a respected matriarch within her family, and as a nurturing caregiver for many others. She will be missed by those who knew and loved her.

Marcella was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Orin; her grandson John Lewis; as well as five brothers and three sisters. She is survived by her children, Charles O. Jr. (Ruth) Lewis, Robert (Loretta) Lewis, Caroline (Donald) Stoner, Ron (Candance) Lewis, Connie (Michael) O’Connor, and Scott Lewis; 18 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Florence Kordorsky.

Mass of Christian Burial for Marcella Lewis will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 1500 Vine Street in Hudson. Visitation will take place one hour prior to services at the church, and also on Monday from 4:00-8:00pm, with a 7:45pm Prayer Service, at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 520 11th Street S., in Hudson.
