Nora Roessler

Nora Roessler age 80 of Spooner, Wisconsin, formerly of Hudson died as a result of complications of heart surgery Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at Regions Hospital in St. Paul. Nora was born on May 20, 1934 in Jarvie, Alberta Canada; the daughter of Otto and Lucy (Harris) Zimmerman. As a young girl, their family would move to the United States. She was united in marriage to Harry DeLoy, a union which was blessed with children Brian, Kelley, and Tim. He would precede her in death very early in their marriage. She would later meet and be married to Frank Roessler by Fr. Anton at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Hudson. Together they would have one son Todd. As a family they lived in Hudson many years raising their family; until they moved to Spooner in 1996. Although she enjoyed raising her children, she also worked outside the home. She worked 17 years for American Can in the Twin Cities; as well as Pearson Candy and a pickle factory.

Nora loved to go shopping for deals she couldn’t pass up or something she couldn’t live without. Purses and turquoise jewelry were amongst her favorite finds. She enjoyed watching her favorite soap operas and her frequent trips to the beauty salon. Her flower gardens were well groomed and she made Christmas special for her family. Her family was the center of her life. Cooking meals and dinners gave her the greatest pleasures. An ideal afternoon for Nora would include a quiet ride on Lake Tozer with the pontoon, sipping her favorite malted beverage, with the grandkids jumping off the back swimming.

Nora will remain in the hearts of her best friend and husband Frank; children Brian DeLoy, Kelley (Dale) Dahlke, Tim (Bonnie) DeLoy, Todd Roessler, grandchildren Justin, Garrett, Courtney, Joseph, Scott, Michael, Stephanie, Corrine, Jacob; daughter-in-heart Barb Rawlings great grandson Ayden; and her sister-in-law Eydith Zimmerman. She is preceded in death by her parents; first husband Harry DeLoy, siblings Ione (Donald) Brightbill, Douglas Zimmerman, and Dale Zimmerman.

A Celebration of Life for Nora will be on Monday, December 1st from 4 to 7PM at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Hudson. There will be a time for reflections following the gathering at 7PM at O’Connell’s. Memorials are preferred. Interment will be private.
