Lawrence J. Marino Sr.

Lawrence J. Marino Sr., age 92 of Baldwin, passed away July 2, 2015 at the Baldwin Care Center.  Lawrence was born September 1, 1922 in New Kensington, PA, the son of Salvadore and Julia Marino.  He spent much of his childhood and early years in the Los Angeles, California area.  Lawrence proudly served his country in the United States Army.  He worked in shipping and receiving at a machine shop for many years.  

Outside of his work, Larry was well entertained with baseball and cheering on the Los Angeles Dodgers.   His son, Larry Jr. even made him a Louisville Slugger baseball bat cane, which brought much attention and conversation.  In his earlier years, he was an avid and quite accomplished bowler.  Larry was a history buff and proud veteran, who enjoyed mentoring kids with WWII stories.  

Larry is survived by his son, Lawrence J. Marino Jr. of Faribault, MN; daughters, Julia Marino of CO and Susan Allison of CA; grandchildren:  Todd Marino, Robbie Allison, Nigel Allison and Angela Allison; as well as many great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Delores.  

Funeral services for Lawrence Marino will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, July 8th at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Baldwin,1010 Newton Street. Burial with full military honors will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis at 1:00 PM Wednesday. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at O’Connell’s Wednesday morning. Memorials are preferred.
