Michael Mohs

Michael D. Mohs, Age 78 of River Falls, WI passed away surrounded by family on May 20, 2016 after a long battle with emphysema.

Michael was preceded in death by his daughter, Michelle; parents, Frank and Catherine (O’Neill) Mohs; and eight siblings. Survived by wife of 56 years, Karen; children, Scott (Stephanie) Mohs, Catherine (Finau) Pupungatoa, Patricia (Gary) Voigt, and William (Mary) Mohs; grandchildren, Matthew (Kaitie), John (Sophie), Megan, and Anne Marie (Eric Heald) Mohs; Augustine, Sepesitiano, Maselino, ‘Emalata, ‘Isapela, and Maketalena Pupungatoa; Tyler, Justin, Abigail, and Claire Voigt; Gabriel and Paige Mohs; great-grandchildren, Jackson Mohs, Amelie Mohs, Evan and Liam Heald.

Michael was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. After serving in the U.S. Navy, he returned home, met Karen Hansen at a St. Helena’s dance in Mpls., and married a year later. In 1963, he started Mike Mohs Construction Co., now 3 generations. He and Karen lived thirty years in Diamond Bluff, WI in the dream home they built. He was always working on projects. He loved fishing, camping, telling stories, and of course, a good card game.

Mass of Christian Burial for Michael Mohs will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, May 26, 2016 at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church, 211 E. Division Street in River Falls, WI, with Rev Fr. Jerry Harris officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to Mass at church, and also from 5:00-8:00pm on Wednesday evening, May 25th, also at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church. Burial will take place at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Poor Clare Sisters or the American Lung Association.
