Nancy Janet Lukens Hackworthy, age 84 of New Richmond, WI, died unexpectedly December 30, 2016 after a short illness.
Nancy was born September 3, 1932, in Roanoke, Virginia, the third child of William C. and Mary Wilson Lukens. After her graduation from Jefferson High School in Roanoke, she attended Randolph-Macon Woman’s College in Lynchburg, VA, eventually earning her Practical Nursing degree from Gateway Technical College in Kenosha, WI.
Many fond memories were created at the family “Homestead” on Island Lake in Manitowish Waters and Boulder Junction, Wisconsin. Nancy loved spending time with her family, her kitties Precious and Pumpkin, and playing Bridge. Nancy also enjoyed golfing in her earlier days, this “South-paw” actually achieved “2” hole-in-ones! Nancy was also a lifelong volunteer in every city she lived – whether that was at area hospitals, victim witness programs, or blood drives, among many other organizations.
She will be remembered as a wonderful Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and Aunt.
Proceeded in death by her husband of 61 years Robert, parents William C. & Mary Wilson Lukens, and three siblings Lucy Kimmerling, Charles Lukens, and MaryAnn Peck Brown.
Survived by five children: C.R. (Cynthia) of Hudson, WI; Nancy (Brian) Snyder of Mounds View, MN; Travis (Kim) of Chandler, AZ; Herbert (Susan) of Arena, WI; and Thomas (Kathleen) of Hudson, WI; ten grandchildren: Thomas, Russell, Nicholas, Alex, Sarah, John, David, Daniel, Kathleen, and Robert; three Great-Grandchildren: Aiden, Carson, and Hadley; brother-in-Law: Clement (Maureen) Hackworthy of Sagle, ID; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Dual Memorial Services are being planned. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 502 County Road UU, Hudson, WI 54016. Another Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at St. Matthias Episcopal Church, 403 E. Chicago Ave, Minocqua, WI 54548. Interment at St. Matthias Columbarium. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and St. Matthias Episcopal Church.
