Bruce Johnson

Bruce Allen Johnson, age 85 of Hudson, Wisconsin, died January 20, 2020 at the Hudson Hospital. Bruce was born on November 19, 1934 in Black River Falls, Wisconsin to Helmer and Olga (Olson) Johnson. He attended and graduated from Black River Falls High School. On August 21, 1954, Bruce was united in marriage to Laurna Olson in Ettrick, Wisconsin, and the couple were blessed with two children, Allen and Paula. For 43 years, he worked as a signalman for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad.  Bruce and Laurna enjoyed 64 years of marriage before she sadly passed away in April of 2019.

Bruce truly adored his family and cherished the time spent with them. His playfulness and gentle nature were always on display when he was around his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bruce enjoyed deer hunting and following the Wisconsin sports teams, especially the Green Bay Packers. He was fond of grilling, and was known for his delicious grilled chicken that he often prepared for family and friends. Bruce’s easy going personality and calmness was ever-present and soothing to everyone around him. He was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church.

Bruce will remain in the hearts of his son, Allen (Ellen) Johnson of La Crosse, WI; daughter, Paula (Bill) Kotz of Hudson, WI; grandson, Patrick Kotz; granddaughters, Emily (Michael) Hendrickson, Amanda (Drew) Bakkestuen, and Lynn (Ryan) Wolle; great grandchildren, Brynna, Kylie, Claire, Grace, and Alexis; brother, Fred (Dixie) Johnson; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Laurna; his parents; and brothers, Duane and Roger (Priscilla) Johnson.

Private Family Services will be held for Bruce.
