Mary Carlson

Loving Wife, Mother, and Grandmother.

Mary passed away on 10/20/2021 after an extremely courageous eight-year battle with Frontal Temporal Lobe Dementia. Mary was born and raised in Minneapolis, MN. Upon graduation from Regina High School in Minneapolis she pursued a career in radiology and worked at Ramsey Hospital and St. Paul Radiology.

Mary and Brian were married in April of 1987. In 1988 they had their first daughter, Kelli. Soon after in 1991, their second daughter Shannon, joined the family. Mary was a strong, selfless, and loving person who devoted her life to family. She was immensely proud of her two daughters. Those who were fortunate enough to know her could attest to her extremely selfless, compassionate, giving, and mischievous personality. It is impossible to encapsulate what joy Mary brought into the world. She loved all holidays, particularly Christmas and St. Patrick’s Day, and made them especially memorable for her children and those close to her. She will not be able to watch her grandchildren grow up and will be unable to spoil them like she would have loved to. Mary may not physically be here with us, but her legacy will forever live on in our hearts.

Mary is proceeded in death by her parents Irene & Gay Varpness, and Father-in Law Leonard Carlson. Mary is survived by her husband Brian, daughters Kelli Carlson and Shannon (Lukas) Adam, and her granddaughters McKenna & Lucy Adam. Her brothers Joe (Diane) Varpness, Jim (Sandy) Varpness, many nieces and nephews and their children. She is also survived by her Mother-in-Law Verna Carlson and her Sister-in-Law Brenda (Pat) Martin.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at Guardian Angels Catholic Church in Oakdale, MN on December 2nd, 2021 at 11:00 AM. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Private interment will be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the family.
