Karen Althoff

Karen Ann Althoff, age 83 of Clear Lake, WI, passed away Monday, March 1, 2022. Karen was born on March 4, 1938 in St. Paul, MN to Earl and Valeria (Webber) Newstrand. She grew up in St. Paul and graduated from Johnson High School. Karen was united in marriage to Richard “Rick” Althoff in 1970, and together, they raised 5 children. She worked many years at Unisys Corporation, and continued working into retirement as a Deli Manager for Festival Foods.

Karen is remembered best for her compassionate and loving disposition, yet notorious wit, humor, delightful sarcasm, and for being so fun and “cool”. Her talents and interests were many. Gatherings with her family and friends were always well planned and geared for a good time.

Karen will remain in the hearts of her husband of 51 years, Rick Althoff; her daughters, Sharon (Steve) Jasper, Julie Oman (Dan Verbrick), and Tammy (John Ketzner) Althoff; son-in-law, David Hanson; grandchildren; Chris (Gena) Fernandez, Ashley (Matt) Newman, Jenna Hanson (Mac Walsh); Josh (Christina) Oman, Becky (Quentin) Helland, Nicki (Max) Super, Amanda (Kyle) Eastling; Kristina Keppert, Chad Keppert; Shawna (Mark) Trapani, and Ryan (Fitri) Geissler; many great-grandchildren; siblings, Jane Kuschel, Joe (Stephanie) Newstrand, and Nancy (Tom) Korlin; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; children, Debbra Hanson, and Steven Oman; and brother-in-law, Del Kuschel.

A gathering of family and friends to celebrate Karen’s life will be held from 1:00-4:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 1010 Newton St., Baldwin, WI.
