Allen Jacobson

Allen Bert Jacobson, age 85 of New Richmond, formerly of Danbury and Baldwin, died on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at Regions Hospital in St Paul. Allen was born on December 11, 1929 in Baldwin, Wisconsin; the son of Clarence and Signa (Dahlman) Jacobson. He was raised in Baldwin where he graduated from Baldwin High School. Following high school, he enlisted in the armed forces where he proudly served in the United States Army. He was later married to Patricia Garlid. To this union children Karen, Steven, Cynthia, and Allene were born. Allen owned, worked, and operated Hammond Insurance Agency in Hammond.

Allen truly loved the outdoors. He took great pleasure in hunting and fishing with family or friends. He also enjoyed a night of card playing or spinning around the dance floor. But one of Allen’s favorite pastimes was being a Mason. He belonged to the Collins Masonic Lodge #172 in Baldwin where he served as Master. But he didn’t stop there. He became active with the Shriners. He was a past president of the St. Croix Valley Shrine, as well as the Aurora Shrine Club in Denver, Colorado. Furthermore, he also was Past Patron of the Eastern Star. Allen served as Mayor for the Village of Hammond from 1963 to 1971.

Allen will forever remain in the hearts of his children Steven (Laura) Jacobson, Cynthia (Rick) Goerish, Allene (Jon) Eggen; grandchildren Andrew Jacobson, Katie Jacobson, Travis (Jackie) Goerish, Amber Goerish, Daniel (Hilary) Eggen, Bradley Eggen, Kelli (Jake) Pickerign; great-grandchildren, Jaden, Elliot, Lucy, Clara, Jakob, Barrett, Addison, Stella, Dylan Ann, Kaylee Jo, Briley, Alayna, Maddi Mae; siblings, Lorraine (Harvey) Moe, Clyde (JoAnn) Jacobson, John (JoAnn) Jacobson, Arnie (Bev) Jacobson; as well as a host of nieces and nephews. He is further survived by his dearest friend Pat Herr. He is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Signa; daughter, Karen Jacobson; and brother, Harold Jacobson.

Funeral Services for Allen will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 28th at the First Lutheran Church, 218 County Road K in New Richmond. Interment will be in the Woodside Cemetery in rural Baldwin. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church, and also from 4:00-7:00pm on Friday, March 27th at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home in Baldwin. A Masonic service will performed at 7:00pm following the visitation at O’Connell’s. Memorials are preferred. Services entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Baldwin, WI. 715-684-3434
