Violette Hilda Wiggins, age 87, of Hudson, passed away peacefully at her home on March 15, 2011.  Vi was born on June 18, 1923 in Moose Lake MN to parents Andrew and Maria (Mansikka) Newman. Vi graduated from Barnum High School in Barnum MN, and went on to attend the Minnesota School of Business. On November 30, 1942, Vi was united in marriage to George Brice Wiggins Jr. at the Fort Snelling Chapel. Their union in marriage was blessed with four children and over 58 years together before George died in September of 2001.

Vi worked for many years as a secretary in Saint Paul MN for insurance and accounting firms. Outside of work, Vi was a skilled gardener who loved growing flowers; especially roses. Vi also enjoyed keeping sharp by doing crossword puzzles and getting her daily fix of CNN news and current events. Most important to Vi, however, was her family. She was the “go to” kind of mom, and was dedicated to her children in every respect. Though they will miss her, her children and grandchildren have been blessed by her love, warmth, and kindness.

Violette is survived by her four children: Wendy (Jerry) Peterson of Hudson WI, Stephen (Peg) Wiggins of Hudson WI, Vicki Weseman of Plymouth MN, and Lesley (Chris) Pyle of Savage MN; seven grandchildren, Jonathan Strain, Stacey Wiggins, Corey Wiggins, Aaron Weseman, Vanessa Weseman, Bryce Pyle and Ryan Pyle; one great-grandson; two sisters, Pearl Newman of Minneapolis MN, and Hulda Keeler of Saint Paul MN; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Vi was preceded in death by her husband, George; two brothers; and two sisters.

A Memorial Celebration of Life service, and a time for sharing, for Violette Wiggins will be held at 1:00PM on Wednesday, March 23 at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home in Hudson. A private burial will be held at a later date. Memorials are preferred to the discretion of the family.
