Bennie William Muffett, age 83, of Baldwin, died early in the morning on April 27, 2011 at Park View Home in Woodville, WI.
Bennie was born on January 4, 1928 to Ernest and Pearl (Baughn) Muffett in Canalou, Missouri, the youngest of ten children. He grew up and attended school in Canalou and then went on to join the Army Air Corps, which later became the US Air Force. His work with the Air Corps took him to the Osceola Air Force Station in East Farmington, Wisconsin. While living on the base he stood up for a friend at a wedding in Glenwood City. It was there that he met Evelyn LaVerne Clothier, one of the bridesmaids. The two dated for nine months and were married on June 24, 1952 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Woodville. This marriage would be blessed by two daughters, Vicky and Melody. The newly formed Muffett family settled in Taylors Falls while Bennie finished his time in the military. In 1955 they moved to St. Paul and Bennie took on a job as a computer engineer at Remington-Rand (now Unisys). This job kept the family moving as they spent time living in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois. Bennie began working in Eagan in 1970 and so the family was able to move back to Woodville. In 1985 Bennie retired from his work and he and Evelyn settled in Baldwin. They spent much of the next 15 years (1985-2000) RV-ing across the country, often wintering in Texas.
Bennie was a very dedicated volunteer person. He helped out with Adoray Hospice, worked with the Department of Aging, and helped in the start up of Treasures of the Heart. He was very involved as a member of Peace Lutheran Church with the LOGOS program, gathering items for the silent auction, and even delivering service tapes to members who were unable to attend church. He was a member of the Woodville Lions and the Woodville American Legion and was a dedicated Packer fan as well. His favorite time was time spent with his family. He loved traveling, volunteering, and being with his wife and kids & was always very active in the lives of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bennie was not only a dedicated family man but a dedicated and faithful Christian as well.
