Angela Skalicky

Angela Harriett (Couette) Skalicky, 97 of Hudson, WI died Friday afternoon, August 11, 2017 at the Christian Community Home.  Born September 10, 1919 in Maple Lake, MN daughter of Michael and Anna Couette. Angie attended grade school and graduated from Maple Lake High School.

She was married for 61 years to Leonard V. Skalicky, they lived in Minneapolis and Hopkins before settling in Hudson where they raised their three daughters—Judy, Janice and Jackie. Over the years, she became active in the Community, Saint Patrick’s Church, and loved socializing with her family, friends and the Nor-Lake retiree group.

Known to many as Angie, she was a talented seamstress who was known for her sharp humor and witty comebacks. Angie love gardening, butterflies, and playing cards.  She was a go-getter with a spunky personality who was ferociously protective of her family and supportive and proud of their successes.

Preceding her in death were her husband Leonard V. Skalicky, siblings Roland Couette, Mabel Peterson, Edna Jolicoeur, Ilene Trainor, and granddaughter Pamela Bundy.

She is survived by daughters Judy (Don) Zappa of Hudson, Jan Doonan of Hudson, Jackie (Robert) Borglund of Cumberland, WI.  Six grandchildren; Lisa Zappa, Steve Doonan, Jeff Doonan, Gina Zappa, Charlie Doonan, Jessica (Dustin) Sutton. Great grandchildren; Abby (Greg) Franko, Haley and Hunter Doonan, and Emilia Sutton.

The family appreciates the kind and loving care given by the staff at the Christian Community Home.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Saint Patrick’s Church in Hudson.

Mass of Christian Burial for Angela will be 3:00 PM, Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at Saint Patrick’s Church,  1550 Vine Street in Hudson. Burial will be in the church cemetery with her casketbearers being Angie’s Grandchildren. Memorials are preferred to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Funeral services entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Hudson.
