Mären J. E. Dahlke

Mären Jean Engebretson Dahlke, age 40 of Hudson, passed away after a very long and courageous struggle with bipolar disorder on Friday, January 2, at her home. She was born April 8,1974 in North Adams, MA. Mären attended White Bear Lake High School and graduated from the College of St. Catherine.  She was united in marriage to Martin Dahlke, September 5, 2002 on the edge of the ocean in Jamaica.  Mären pursued her work in occupational therapy as a teacher and yoga instructor for children.

Mären loved plants and flowers and enjoyed collecting and cultivating them. She was an avid reader and traveled to many places across the country with her husband. She also had a great respect for different cultures and was always accepting of others thoughts and ideas. Mären loved celebrating and sharing adventures with her extended families. Mären was a kind, caring and most gentle person who walked softly on this earth.

Mären will remain in the hearts of her husband, Martin; father, James (Renee Nielsen) Engebretson of Hudson; mother, Catherine Mitchell (Lionel) Dicharry of Belgrade, MT; in-laws, Dale and Linda Dahlke of Knapp; birth son, Ian Gearhart of Coto de Caza, CA; uncle, Tom Mitchell of Washburn; aunt, Jean Engebretson of Woodbury, MN; cousins, Elsa and Oona Mitchell of Portland, OR, and David Engebretson of Stillwater, MN; sister-in-law, Christina (John) Sopiwnik of Washburn; brother-in-law, Benjamin (Aimee) Dahlke of Great Falls, MT; other family members and friends.

A Memorial Service for Mären will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, January 8, 2015 at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 520 So. Eleventh St., Hudson. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
