Joan “Joanie” Marlette

Joan Helen ‘Joanie’ Marlette age 92, formerly of Woodbury, MN passed away September 4, 2022 at The Water’s Senior Living in Oakdale.  Joanie was born April 13, 1930 to parents Joseph and Helen (Danner) Heinen. She was raised in the Twin Cities and graduated from Humboldt High School in Rosemont.

She worked as an Executive Assistance for 3M Manufacturing for twenty-seven years before ‘pseudo retiring’ and working another ten parttime years. Joanie married Dean Marlette on April 27, 1974 at Firth Lutheran Church in White Bear Lake. Together, they lived many years in Woodbury before making The Water’s their home this past year.

Joanie was a go getter whose organization landed her as President of the 3M Quarter Century Club. She took great pride in honoring those employees who had worked their twenty-five years or more. She enjoyed time spent hanging with her gal friends on her bowling league when she was younger. The family had great memories from camping in Cannon Falls with their fifth wheel trailer. She loved entertaining whether it be in their garage or having pool parties. Location didn’t matter as long as she was surrounded by the ones, she cherished the most. She appreciated the elegance of a monarch coming from a chrysalis. She also loved feeding the birds. A few of her favorites were the beauty of a cardinal, the song of an oriole, and the flight of a hummingbird. She and Dean have been active members of Memorial Lutheran Church in Afton. Her faith was paramount to her life and she lived life by loving others and being kind to everyone. Her optimism lit up a room and her zest for life will be missed by many.

Joanie will be lovingly remembered by her Husband Dean of forty-eight years; daughter Sharon Marlette; sons Roy LaBrosse, Jim Marlette, Richard LaBrosse, Dennis Marlette; her grandchildren; and her extended camping family. She was preceded in death by brother Donald (Joyce) Heinen.
