Elda “Elly” Meyer

Elda “Elly” K. Meyer, age 66, of St. Paul, MN, died on October 30, 2022 at Cerenity-Marian Care Center in St. Paul.

She was born on December 20, 1955 in Menomonie, WI to Alvin and Myrtle (Carey) Bailey. She went on to obtain her Associates degree in Business and Administration, where she spent 39 great years at West Publishing/Thomson Reuters as a clerical assistant.

Elly was a lover of the outdoors, enjoying trips to the Boundary Waters, camping or being out in her garden. She enjoyed traveling, road trips, playing softball, riding her motorcycle when she was younger, and watching her grandkids grow up.  Elda was the Minnesota Vikings’ biggest fan and lover of anything purple! She always enjoyed being around family and friends but Above all else, her greatest gift was having her daughter Carey and being able to raise her and be apart of all her accomplishments growing up. Despite many medical adversities and obstacles she faced throughout her adult life, she never let anything get in her way. If someone would say she couldn’t do it – she always found a way. She was strong, determined, positive, and loving – always with a smile on her face. Wanting everyone to be happy and laughing.

She is survived by her daughter, Carey (Nick) Larson; grandchildren: Isaiah, Riley, and Evan Larson; sister, Barb Nelson; brother, Roger Bailey; niece and nephew, Crystal Nelson and Ryan (Jan) Nelson; great nieces and nephews: Nick, Hannah, and Ryannah Nelson; best friends, Marchelle Olson, Brad (Lynn) Anderson, and Barb Moody; and dogs, Finn & Sunny.

She is preceded in death by her parents; brother-in-law, Sheldon Nelson; and sister-in-law, Trisha Bailey.

A Memorial Service for Elly will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, November 4, 2022 at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 520 S. 11th St., Hudson, with a visitation held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

To honor Elda’s love of the Vikings, all in attendance are encouraged to wear purple and gold and/or your favorite Vikings attire!
