Celia Freiberg

Celia E. Freiberg, age 85, of Woodville, WI, passed away on November 25, 2022 at Parkview Nursing Home in Woodville.

 

Celia was born on March 11, 1937 to Albert and Thelma (Johnson) Gossel. She grew up and graduated from High School in Woodville.

 

Celia worked in downtown St. Paul for many years starting with St. Paul Fire & Marine Insurance Co. (The St. Paul Companies) and later with Minnesota Mutual and Securian prior to her retirement.

 

On November 21, 1959 she was united in marriage to David Freiberg. They resided in Woodbury, MN and welcomed their son Matthew in 1972. The family moved to Almena, WI in 1976 before returning to Woodville in 1983.

 

She was a faithful and active member of Zion Lutheran Church enjoying her time spent teaching Sunday School in her early years and then later serving and volunteering in many different groups and activities. Celia had a special talent for sewing, knitting and crochet, she loved to gift beautiful handmade blankets, doilies, ornaments and other handmade creations. She also enjoyed spending time visiting with family and friends over coffee and special treats that she had baked.

 

Celia was an amazing mother, wife, sister, aunt, cousin, colleague and friend. She had a tremendous caring and giving heart that touched the lives of so many around her.

 

Celia is survived by her husband David, son Matt (Julie) Freiberg of New Richmond, WI and sister in law Vivian Gossel of Story City, IA along with many Nieces and Nephews and their families.

 

She is preceded in death by her parents Albert and Thelma (Johnson) Gossel and her siblings Jeanette (Mike) Hansen , Vernon (Joyce) Gossel, Truman (Susie) Gossel, Marvin (Marjorie) Gossel & Gordon Gossel.

 

Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 2, 2022 at Zion Lutheran Church, 221 Lockwood St., Woodville with a visitation starting at 9:30 a.m. at the church. The service will be livestreamed on Zion’s Facebook page. Interment at Lone Pine Cemetery in Woodville. Memorials are preferred to the church.
