Dorothy A. Eggers

Dorothy A. Eggers of Hudson, Wisconsin passed away peacefully with family by her bedside on January 28, 2023 at the age of 88.  Dorothy was born July 15, 1934 to Alexander and Margaret Panasuk in Mason, Wisconsin. In 1959, on a blind date, she met the love of her life, Kenneth Eggers. They married later that year at St. Jerome’s Parish in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin.  In Oconomowoc and Stone Bank, Wisconsin she and her husband of 63 years raised a family of four daughters.

While raising a family, Dorothy worked as a schoolteacher and then a library director for many years. She also found time to obtain her Master’s Degree. After retiring to the Hayward, Wisconsin area she volunteered at local libraries.

Dorothy was an avid reader. She had stacks of books by her bedside and everywhere throughout the house. You could often find her curled up with a good book. She also enjoyed golfing, playing bridge, working out at the gym, antiquing, and spending time with her grandchildren. She had a creative side, trying her hand at ceramics, canning many veggies that Ken nurtured in his major veggie garden, and trying new recipes. Dorothy was a devout Catholic, and she worked hard to build family traditions and make holidays special. She made sure her daughters were involved in music lessons, multiple sports, and exposed to the arts and culture. She and Ken often went to the symphony and enjoyed loudly playing opera at home.

Dorothy and Ken loved traveling, raising their family, building a successful business, and fostering their many close friendships. They instilled in their daughters the importance of hard work, independence, education, entrepreneurship, and being true to oneself.

Dorothy is survived by daughter Margaret Eggers Krause (Dan) of Cable, Wisconsin and their children, Graham, Betsey, Benjamin, Clark, Rachel, and four great grandchildren, Madalyn, Henry, Eyla, and Nova; daughter Jennifer Eggers (companion David) of Fairfield, Connecticut; daughter, Julie Eggers Huber (Ted) of Pequot Lakes, Minnesota; and daughter Anne Belzer (Eric) of Minneapolis, Minnesota and their children, Ali, Will, and Cate.

Private family graveside services will be held at Willow River Cemetery in Hudson, WI.
