David A. Finkelson, age 73, of Ellsworth, Wisconsin, passed away at his home on January 7, 2025. Born on May 24, 1951, in Rush City, Minnesota, to Anders and Doris Finkelson, David grew up with a strong work ethic and a deep love for the land. He attended Hudson High School and later pursued his studies in Broad Area Agriculture at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls, where he also became a proud member of the fraternity Delta Theta Sigma—a decision that shaped the rest of his life.
David was known for his kind spirit, infectious joy, and steadfast dedication to both his family and his farm. He was a man whose presence lit up any room, and his gentle soul brought comfort and warmth to all who knew him.
On December 23, 1994, David married the love of his life, Mary. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and a shared passion for farming. They raised cattle, cultivated memories, and forged a bond that would last through the years. David was a devoted husband, a loving brother, a proud father, an uncle who gave it his all, and a grandfather whose heart was as big as his farm. His deep care for his family and animals never wavered. He worked tirelessly to ensure his loved ones were always well cared for, offering a helping hand without ever expecting anything in return.
David believed in the value of simplicity. He found contentment in the quiet moments—whether it was caring for his animals, reading magazines about agriculture, or savoring old westerns with his family. He had a unique way of making hard work seem effortless. With a steady and reliable pace, he always completed his chores with precision and care, earning the adage, “Slow and steady wins the race.” He was a true testament to the power of patience, dedication, and a strong sense of responsibility.
David’s legacy will be remembered not only for his unwavering love and commitment to his family but also for the laughter and light he brought into the lives of others. His generosity, warmth, and quiet strength will be deeply missed, but his spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who had the privilege to know him.
David is survived by: his wife Mary; sister Janet; brothers: Stan(Joan)and Gordie(Barb); nephews Stuart(Diane), Brian, and Erik(Lisa); niece Jodi; children: Tammi(Tim) Anderson and John (Michele DeLong) Bolden; granddaughters: Mackenzie Anderson, Amanda Bolden, and many friends and family.
