Marjorie Sockness, 93 of North Hudson, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2025 at Lakeville Hospital in Stillwater. Margie, as she was often called, had a wide variety of interests and was a very bight and gifted woman. For years she managed all of the books for Palmer’s TV. Many knew her from the years she operated an exotic pet store in downtown Hudson.
Marjorie was born on April 30, 1931 in Barron County Wisconsin to Edwin and Kathryn Johnson. She was one of seven siblings, four of whom have preceded her in death, Robert, Donald, Verna, and Allen. Margie and her husband of 31 years, Palmer Sockness (1929-1979), met as children and were married in 1948. They had two children,
Terry (1949-2007), and Rita (Ducklow) Hussman.
In 1982 Margie met Dale Engler who was her constant companion until her death. Dale brought his family of four adult children and many grandchildren into their relationship.
Marjorie is survived by her daughter, three grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren along with her sisters Karen Lamb and Eileen Dahlberg and many nieces and nephew. And of course, her beloved partner Dale and his loving family.
No memorial service is planned at this time.
