Harvey Chester Brown Jr. died peacefully in his sleep on December 19th, 2016 at Oak Ridge Assisted Living Center in Hastings, MN.

Harvey was born to Harvey and Rose (Kochendorfer) Brown on February 14, 1925 in Menomonie, WI along with his twin brother, Harold. He lived in Menomonie, WI until 1942. At age 17, he and his brother Harold enlisted in the Navy. He was very proud to have served his country during World War 2.

He married Margaret Mae Otto on November 23, 1946. They were blessed with 64 years of marriage. They had two children, Anita and Jeff. Harvey worked as a telegrapher/agent for the Milwaukee Railroad for 35 years. In 1972 they moved from Menomonie to Prescott, WI. Harvey loved working in his yard, gardening, and feeding many kinds of birds. He loved the Lord and was a longtime member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Prescott, WI.

He is survived by one daughter, Anita and her husband Art Streetman of Mitchell, SD; one son, Jeffrey Brown and his partner Tony Richards of Minneapolis, MN; one granddaughter Megan Hardie of Kansas City, MO; and one great grandson, Hudson Kobler-Hardie of Kansas City, MO.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife Margaret, his parents and siblings, Janet (Brown) Florence, John Brown, Ed Brown, Robert Brown, Harold Brown, Richard Brown and Mary (Brown) Foslid.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 21st at 1:00 pm at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Prescott, WI. Private burial will be at St. Paul’s Cemetery in Menomonie, WI at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Following the memorial service, the family invites everyone to join them at Hill Funeral Home, 1339 Orrin Road, Prescott, for refreshments, cake and conversation to celebrate Harvey’s life through memories.
