Dawn Doughty, age 83, of Hudson and formerly of Wauwatosa and Hayward, passed away on Monday afternoon, September 19, 2011. She and her husband Robert had recently moved to Duluth, MN. Dawn was born on October 27, 1927 in Wausau, WI. She married the love of her life, Robert Doughty on September 25, 1948 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in West Allis, WI. They were blessed with three children, Susan, Robin, and Steven.
Dawn was a wonderful mother who enjoyed raising her children. For about 20 years, she used her design talents working for Hank’s Floral in Wauwatosa. She took great pride in decorating the family home. Dawn was a fabulous self-taught seamstress; she made clothing for her children, and in recent years made countless quilts and dolls for family and friends.
Dawn and Robert enjoyed traveling and were able to visit Ireland, England, Denmark, and the Caribbean. A special trip for her was to Sweden, where Dawn was able to celebrate her heritage and do further ancestry research. Upon their retirement, the couple moved to Chetek, then Hayward, then and finally to Hudson. Here, they were active members of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.
Dawn is survived by her husband, Robert, resident of the VA Home in Silver Bay MN; daughters, Susan Dorner of Hudson WI, and Robin Mueller of Ely MN; daughter-in-law, Holly Doughty of St. Paul MN; four grandchildren: Sarah (Frank) Grahek; Sean Doughty (Kristin Jewell), Andrew Doughty, and Peter Doughty; great-grandsons, Landon and Carter Grahek; extended family; and her beloved kitty, Lily. She was preceded in death by her son, Steven Doughty in 2009; and her parents, Lawrence and Lena Johannis.
Dawn will be remembered as “the life of the neighborhood”; a friendly woman with a kind soul who was giving and generous. She will be greatly missed.
