Doris Marie Edholm, age 83 of Hudson died August 5th 2018 at Regions Hospital in St. Paul following complications of a stroke. Doris was born on September 20, 1934 in Deer Creek, MN; the daughter of Hartzel and Mertie (Lane) Porter. She was raised in Deer Creek where she graduated from high school. She was united in marriage to Nels Edholm on February 19, 1956 in Deer Creek. To this union, children Kathy, Gary, Janice, and Cheryl were born. Earlier in life, she worked at the Dibbo’s Café and Hudson Bakery before focusing her time with her children. Once grown, she worked for GS Electric in the factory. But for the past fifteen years, she has worked as the Noon Duty Supervisor for Willow River Elementary School k through 5th grades. It gave the greatest satisfaction seeing the kids mature and move on to middle school. It gave her the biggest smile when they would come up to her at the store or come to her house trick and treating. Sadly, Nels would precede her in death in 1995. Being a strong woman, she carried on. She thoroughly enjoyed maintaining her yard as she loved to mow the grass, plant flowers, or paint what needed attention. She often rivaled her neighbors as they could rarely keep up with her non-stop perpetual care. She loved when the grandchildren and great grandchildren would come over or spending time with them at the family cabin on Lake Magnor in Clayton. She loved baking and making her family their favorite treats, especially at Christmas.

Doris will remain in the hearts of her children Kathy (Richard) Cole of Hudson, Gary (Cheryl) Edholm of Hudson, Janice (Frank) Marske of Hudson, Cheryl (Jeff) Stone of Baldwin; grandchildren Shannon (Joe) Juen, Todd (Jessica) Cole, Alyssa Edholm , Candace (fiancé Josh) Hilden, Casey (friend Laura) Cole, Travis (Michelle) Hilden, Andy (fiancé Rachael) Edholm, Dalton Marske, Ella Marske; seven great grandchildren Bryce, Jaxon, Neri, Oakley, Parker, Levi, Bowie; siblings Vivian (Ronald) Olson of Battle Lake, MN, Gerald (Peggy) Porter of Deer Creek, MN, sisters/brothers-in-law Leona Porter of Deer Creek, MN, Tom (Annette) Edholm of Winona, MN, Mary Ann (Jerry) Riewer of Staples, MN, as well as a host of special friends and neighbors. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Nels, Siblings Betty, Melvin, Donald, Estella, and an infant sister.

A Celebration of Life for Doris will be 3pm to 6pm with a brief prayer service at 6pm Saturday, August 11th at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Hudson. Interment will be in the Willow River Cemetery in Hudson with her grandsons serving as casketbearers. Memorials are preferred.
