Dorothy Mitchell

Dorothy Ann (Case) Mitchell (88), a Hudson, WI resident for the past 7+ years, passed away peacefully on Tuesday January 12th at the Christian Community Home in Hudson. Dorothy was preceded in death by Wallace Mitchell, her husband of 57 years, as well as by her parents Anna and George Case. Dorothy is survived by her children Mark Mitchell of Hudson, Ann Heckbert (Jim) of Steamboat Springs, CO; grandchildren Jessica Kato (Gene) of Northglenn, CO, Kimberly Deardurff (Adam) of Westerville, OH, Chance Mitchell (Katie) of Madison, WI and Grace Mitchell of Milwaukee, WI; along with great grandchildren Abigail Deardurff, Kira Kato and a second Deardurff great granddaughter on the way.

Mom was born in Austin, MN on September 29, 1927, graduated from Austin High School, worked in California for a short time, had a fun trip to Cuba and married Dad on March 21, 1951, just before he graduated from Iowa State University. Dad was a lifelong employee of Hormel Foods, and as a result of job transfers, they lived in Winnebago, MN, Dayton, IA, Fremont, NE, Ankeny, IA, Humboldt, IA, and Ottumwa, IA, before retiring to Hot Springs, AR. Mom enjoyed cooking, sewing reading, golfing, traveling, ice skating and swimming. Mom and Dad were great partners, great parents/grandparents and had many great friends. Lives well lived. We take comfort in knowing that they are together again.

There will be a private service, including the residents and staff of the Red Cedar Canyon Senior Living Community, as well as our family. We would appreciate any memorials be given to the Hudson Boosters Challenger League Program (PO Box 354 Hudson, WI 54016). The Challenger League is a recreational baseball program for boys and girls with special needs. Mom enjoyed watching those games.
