Duane Kuschel, age 70 of Roberts WI, died on Tuesday, January 25th at the Hudson Hospital. Duane was born May 27, 1940 in Prescott WI to parents Clarence Joseph and Maie Laura (Mausolf) Kuschel. Duane attended Prescott High School. On January 30, 1960, Duane would be united in marriage to Janice LaVon Anderson. Together, Duane and Jan would be blessed with three daughters, and over fifty years of marriage.

Duane owned and operated Roberts Decorating, where he was known throughout St. Croix and Pierce Counties as the guy to call for painting and wallpapering jobs. Outside of work, Duane enjoyed spending time camping outdoors, traveling to favorite destinations such as Florida and Branson MO, and going to a casino. Duane also had a particular fondness for his cars, always a loyal owner of a Ford or a Dodge. Duane and Jan enjoyed attending different sporting events that their grandchildren were participating in. Duane was a social man with a welcoming personality. Known to many as “Uncle Duane”, he was well-known and loved by family and friends alike. Duane had a special way of greeting you with his “thumbie”, but an even more special way of leaving a lasting impression with those whose lives he touched.

Duane is survived by his wife of over fifty years, Jan; daughters Tamera (Dennis) Seeger of Beldenville WI, Teresia (Dave) Gulich of Roberts WI, and Trudy (Jeff) Hinkel of Roberts WI; grandchildren, John Seeger, Matthew (Sarah) Seeger, Stacy (fiancé Ryan Danielson) Gulich, Steve Gulich, and Dustin Hinkel; great-grandson Marcus Seeger; and newly arrived great-granddaughters Melanie Seeger, and Luciana Danielson, who were born just days before Duane’s passing; sister, Sandra (Mike) Martin of Rochester MN; niece Charlene (Kevin) Lillie of Rochester MN; nephew Todd (Rebecca) Martin of Minneapolis MN; brother-in-law Jerry (Pat) Anderson of River Falls WI and their children Stephanie, Dana, and Jack and their families; nieces Linda and Michelle and nephews Greg and Jeff of the West Bend WI area; as well as many other relatives and good friends. Duane was preceded in death by his grandson, Tony Hinkel; his parents; brother-in-law Joel Anderson; and sister-in-law Sandy Anderson Laufer.

Funeral Services for Duane Kuschel will be held at 2:00PM on Saturday, January 29th at the Roberts Congregational United Church of Christ, 1001 Birch Drive in Roberts with Rev. Dr. Delbert Permann officiating. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to services at the church, and also from 4:00-8:00PM on Friday evening at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 1010 Newton Street in Baldwin.
