Elton R. Johnson, age 88, of Baldwin, WI, passed away on November 7, 2015 at the American Heritage Care Center in Hammond, WI.

Elton was born on May 14, 1927 in New Richmond, WI, the son of Thome and Ruth (Holen) Johnson. He grew up and attended school in Cedar Lake, WI, following which he began his career as a Repairman for Andersen Windows, retiring in 1982 after 35 dedicated years.

In 1949, he was united in marriage to Adeline Wickelman in Stillwater, MN. After her death in 1991, he found love again with Shirley Preston, and they were married in 1992 in Nashua, IA.

Elton proudly served his country in the United States Navy and was a dedicated member of the Stillwater VFW and the Woodville American Legion. He also enjoyed taking trips to Canada and Cedar Lake, fishing for walleye and sunfish, and deer hunting in his early days. He was a history buff, and could frequently be seen with a book in hand, reading about historical events.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley of Baldwin, WI; Wayne (Pam) Sigsworth of New Richmond, WI; step-children: Dennis (Carol) Preston of Woodville, WI, Suzanne Zimmer of Baldwin, WI, and Dan (Audrey) Preston of Baldwin, WI; step-grandchildren: Stacey (Scott) Hilmanowske, Nathan (Leah) Zimmer, Heather Jo Preston, and Jordan Preston; siblings: James (Marge), Bob (Sharon), Glen (Beth), and Jerry; sister-in-law, Judy Johnson; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his first wife, Adeline; parents; and siblings: AltaMae, George, Curtis, Rosella (John) Rose, and John T.

A Gathering of Friends and Family will take place from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at Zion Lutheran Church, 221 Lockwood St., Woodville, with a Memorial Service starting at 11:00 a.m. Burial at St. Michael’s Cemetery in Bayport, MN.
