Lois Mae Turonie, age 87, of Ashland, Wisconsin, passed away, on Saturday, December 5, at the Linden – Golden LivingCenter in Stillwater, Minnesota.

Lois was born on April 17, 1928, in Ashland, Wisconsin, the daughter of Lyle and Eleanor (Bushaw) Doyle. She grew up and attended school in Mellen. Lois was united in marriage to Michael W. Turonie on July 1, 1950 at the Holy Rosary Church in Mellen. Their marriage was blessed with seven children. Lois worked as a nursing assistant at the Memorial Medical Center in Ashland; retiring in 1991.  

Lois loved animals, and was especially fond of her cats. She enjoyed reading mystery novels and watching the Chicago Bulls and the Green Bay Packers. Lois was a good cook and liked to bake goodies for her family and friends. In retirement, she enjoyed taking day trips with her husband to Mellen to socialize and visit with friends.

Lois will remain in the hearts of her children: Michael, of Park Falls, Wisconsin; Richard, of Park Falls; Andrew, of Las Vegas, Nevada; Joseph, of Las Vegas; Kathy Barabe, of Hudson, Wisconsin; and Vicky of Las Vegas. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Jason Turonie, Lee Turonie, Brett Turonie, Richard Turoni Jr., and Rob Barabe. She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael (4/14/2015); her son, Thomas; her parents; and her siblings, Thomas Doyle and Alice Doyle.

Private interment at the Mount Hope Cemetery, in Highbridge, Wisconsin. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the family and can be sent to the O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 520 South 11th St., Hudson, WI 54016.
