Marjorie Gavin

Marjorie Mary Gavin, born March 21, 1927 in Troy Township, St.Croix County in rural Hudson, Wisconsin to Jacob W. and Amelia M. (Feyereisen) Ruemmele. Graduated from Oak Ridge rural school May, 1941. Graduated from Hudson High School 1945. Employed at MMM and then as a Deputy of Register of Deeds for St. Croix County under Dave Hope, Registrar. Married Charles V. Gavin October 15, 1951 at St. Patrick’s Hudson and resided in Beloit WI for 5 years before moving back to the Hudson area.

Interests included family, 4-H, sewing, crafts, flowers, family history, baptism garments and charity quilt making. She was active in St. Patrick’s Parish Council of Catholic Women. Also, volunteered at St. Patrick’s School and Hudson Senior Center. Enjoyed games on the computer, playing cards, family parties and occasional trips to the casino.

Her family history knowledge was extensive and was a great source of family information. She was an excellent seamstress, quilter and crafter and her family and friends were fortunate enough to enjoy her hand-crafted items. She set a great example for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren through her contributions of time, talent and faith in the church and home. She will be missed by all.

Preceded in death by parents; husband Charles; son Michael; brother Jim Ruemmele. Survived by her children, son Gary Gavin; daughters, Ann Gavin, and Mary (Barry) Preston; daughter-in-law, Roxanne Gavin; grandchildren, Emily (Matt) Sippel, Abigail (Jason) Johnson, Stephanie (Charlie) Langhoff, Scott Gavin, Jennifer (Haven) Tracey, Aimee Preston, and Drew Preston; great-grandchildren, Gavin and Blake Sippel, Charles, Mitchell and Mallory Johnson, Kyla, Ava, Hyatt and Trevor Tracey; sisters, Dorothy Smith and Rita (Doug) Jenkins; sisters-in-law, Colette Ruemmele, Arnine Gavin and Lorraine Gavin.

Mass of Christian Burial for Marjorie Gavin will be held at 11:00am on Friday, February 21st at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Hudson. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5:00-8:00pm with a prayer service at 8:00pm at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home in Hudson, as well as one hour prior to the mass at church on Friday morning. Memorials are preferred to the discretion of the family. Services have been entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Hudson, WI. 715-386-3725
