Nancy Harriet Brooks, age 76 of Afton, MN, died January 20, 2015 from Dementia at Afton Care St. Croix in Afton.

Nancy was born September 13, 1938 in Minneapolis, MN, to William and Margaret (Peck) Brooks. She was raised in the southwest suburban metro area and graduated from Minnetonka High School in 1956. Nancy attended the University of Minnesota and left to raise a family. She entered the business world for several years before becoming a Volunteer Guardian ad Litem for 16 years. Nancy loved dogs, especially terriers. She bred and showed terriers for decades. Her beloved terriers visited her regularly at Afton Care and she is now reunited with her many passed dogs.

Nancy will remain in the hearts of her husband of 26 years, Tom Youngblood; children, Blake Engelbret of Eden Prairie, MN, and Libby (Tom Rolseth) Engelbret of Minnetonka, MN; step-children, Mark (Greg Lemke) Youngblood of Moorhead, MN, and Rick Youngblood of Los Angeles, CA; sister, Betsy (Lloyd) Richardson of Maple Grove, MN; nephew, Aaron (Jackie) Meyer of St. Francis, MN; several cousins and extended family. She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Margaret Brooks; and step-mother, Janet Brooks.

Thank you to Jamie and the hospice team staff for their care and support; and more so to Nancy’s special caregiver friends at Afton Care: Sue, Eileen, Maureen, Krystal, Lorie, and Haleigh.

A Memorial Service for Nancy will be held at 11am on Saturday, January 31, 2015, with a visitation from 10-11am, at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 520 S 11th St., Hudson, WI.
