Orville Jonnes, age 97 of Richfield, MN died peacefully Sunday, August 18th at the Christian Community Home in Hudson, WI.
Orville was born on August 17, 1922 in Minneapolis, MN to Andrew and Marie Jonnes. He attended Edison High School in Minneapolis and joined the United States Coast Guard after high school. He was proud to have served his country in the service, and lived his life with those standards of responsibility, humility, hard work and faithful commitment. Orville was 29 years old when he married Doris Selma Hansen on June 9th, 1951.
Orville was a carpenter by trade, which he did for his entire career until his retirement at 65. In addition, he used his skills to help family, friends and churches with construction support and handyman work. In addition, he went on two mission trips to help with construction projects, as well as being a generous giver to his church and many para-church ministries. He was a behind-the-scenes kind of person who was faithful and willing to serve throughout his life.
Orville is survived by his daughters Debbie (Steve) Morris, Charlene (Tom) Holland, and Lisa (Carey) Higgins; grandchildren, Cassandra (TJ) Minnehan, Peter (Jacqueline) Holland, Cayla (Alex) Rouleau, Jack Holland, Taylor (Natalie) Higgins, Kristen Higgins, Erica Higgins, and Spencer Higgins; step-grandchildren, Matthew (Melody) Morris, Joshua (Kari) Morris, and Timothy Morris; five great-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews; and friends. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Doris; his siblings, Bernice, Marian, Norman and Evelyn; and his parents.
A memorial service will be held at Cedar Valley Church, 8600 Bloomington Ave S, Bloomington, MN on Saturday, August 24th at 10:30am, with a visitation starting one hour prior to the service.
Interment will be at Fort Snelling at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be given to Life Center (formally called ICCM in Minneapolis, MN) where Orville did volunteer handyman work for many years.
