Richard Seymour

Richard Michael Seymour, age 63, of Lakeland Shores, MN, died of complications of a battle with cancer on Dec. 2, 2010, at United Hospital in St. Paul, MN. He was formerly from Minneapolis, and Osceola, WI. He was born to Richard and Nancy (Judge) Seymour on August 7, 1947 in Minneapolis, MN. Rick(called Mike or Michael by his Mom and siblings) graduated from Roosevelt High School (Mpls) in 1965 and later graduated from the Univ. of MN in Business. During the Vietnam War he served in the army as a supply sergeant in Thailand. In the mid-70’s to early 90’s, he was a key manager at Motorbooks in Osceola, WI, a transportation book publishing company. In the 1990’s, he joined Motorbooks’ founder, Tom Warth and formed the transportation publishing and book distribution company, Iconografix, currently operating in Hudson, WI.

Rick loved his work and the book business and so enjoyed getting together with publisher friends. He loved his family, and loved spending quiet time at home, but was thrilled when his granddaughters visited and stirred up his world. He was a computer and math wiz, loved old and new photographs, old and new books, and was an avid reader. Rick probably saw every old movie made and listened to old radio broadcasts for hours.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Stephen and his father, Dick Seymour.

Rick will be dearly missed by Debby (Roberts), his wife and best friend of 24 years; his two step-sons, Dylan Frautschi (Tristane) of Star Prairie and Chris Frautschi (Stacey) of Hudson, whom he thought the world of; his two granddaughters, Olivia and Ella Frautschi (Hudson), who lit up his life; mother, Nancy Seymour of Mpls, whom he so respected and admired; sisters Cindy Rouse (Dave) of Excelsior, Joni Seymour of Eliot, Maine, Kara Seymour of Mpls; brother Jeremy Seymour, Richfield MN; in-laws Marv & Marilyn Roberts of Hudson; sister-in-law, Christy Roberts; Tom Warth, his dear friend and business partner; extended family, employees and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred. A funeral service will be held for Richard at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, December 7; visitation will be from 1:00 – 3:00, and military honors will conclude services. All will be held at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home in Hudson, 715-386-3725.
