Robert “Bobby” Overby

Robert “Bobby” Wayne Overby age 70 of Hampton, died on Saturday October 4, 2014 at Mayo Healthcare Hospital in Cannon Falls, MN. Bobby was born on January 7, 1944 in Minneapolis, MN, the son of Clifford and Harriett Overby. Bobby siblings where Larry, Steven, Paul Overby and Sandy (Overby) Molstre. They settled in Glenwood, MN where Bobby completed his schooling. He was listed in the Army on September 15, 1961 to October 23, 1964. In 1970, he was blessed with his son Jay while living in Oregon. In 1971, he moved back to Minnesota where he started his construction company. Bobby was very talented in drafting, building, remodeling, building bird houses and crafts. He was the families “handyman”, fixing leaky faucets, or building something new, Bobby was there. His favorite store was “Menards” and would always seem to find him there.

Bobby loved to dance and travel and would always say, “You can’t see nothing from the plane, you need to travel by land to see the world” and he did just that. He also appreciated airshows, car shows, home & garden shows, along with old western movies. He also enjoyed attending his son and daughter in laws reenactments from the time of the war.

Bobby had a special place in his heart for his son Jay, wife Stacy and grandson Tristin Overby of Spring Lake Park, MN along with his extended family, Jean Mulvihill (partner) , Tim (Sue) Mulvihill, Glenn Mulvihill, Liz Mulvihill, Chris (Steve) Werner, Jeanne (Jeff) Werner, Marie Mulvihill , Joyce Schaffer (Pete), Annie Wille and Josie Mulvihill of Hampton, MN. He loved spending time with his family and always had a smile on his face.

He is preceded in the death by his parents, Clifford and Harriett Overby.

He is survived by his son Jay (Stacy) Overby of Spring Lake Park and partner Jean Mulvihill of Hampton, brothers and sister, a lot of extended family, friends and grandchildren.

A Memorial service for Bobby will be 11AM Tuesday, Oct. 14th at Abiding Savior Lutheran Church at 8211 Red Oak Drive in Mounds View, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church. Burial with full military honors will be 1:30 Tuesday Oct. 14th in the Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. Funeral services entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Home and Countryside Crematory of Hudson, WI.
