In Memory of Robert F. Cripe

Robert Freeman Cripe, always known as “Bob”, age 59, of Baldwin, WI, passed away suddenly on June 18, 2013.

Bob was born in Dixon, IL (the hometown of President Ronald Reagan) on July 30th, 1953 to Robert Cripe and Alberta Swanlund.

He grew up on a dairy farm, and graduated from Polo Community High School, Polo IL in 1972. He married Nina Torchia on August 28th, 1982 in Princeton, IL. Born to this union were 2 children: Andrea, and Alex. In 1994, they moved to their farm north of the town of Baldwin.

He spent the majority of his adult life as a professional home remodeling contractor and customer farm baler. He loved riding his motorcycle, fishing, hunting, and working in his wood shop. He was an avid member of the NRA and the Harley Owners Group. Every morning, he would enjoy long walks with his two dogs, Moose & Molly.

Preceding him in death are his father, Robert Freeman Cripe, and two brother-in-laws Larry Irwin and Rich Crawford.

He is survived by his wife, Nina and two children, Andrea & Alex; sisters Jean Irwin of Primghar, IA, Sara (Keith) Baal of Madison, WI, Mary Crawford of Polo, IL; brother Doug Cripe of Champagne, IL; mother Alberta Swanlund of Polo, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial gathering to celebrate Robert’s life will be held from 1-4pm on Saturday, June 22 at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home – Baldwin Chapel.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred in Bob’s name to the Disabled American Veterans fund.
