Robert Edward Greenhalgh was born in Lansing, Michigan, and was the son of immigrants from England. He is survived by his sister Lillian Russell of Flint, Michigan and was preceded in death by his sister Elsie Griffith of Lansing, Michigan. He was an ensign in the Navy during the end of World War II. Bob was a graduate of Michigan State University and the University of Michigan, where he received his master’s in chemical engineering. He had a successful career, working 25 years for Dow Corning in Midland, Michigan before moving to the Twin Cities metro area to work 18 years as the Vice President and Technical Director for Conwed Corporation.
Bob is survived by his wife of 61 years, Corinne, and their three children, Eric Greenhalgh of Apple Valley, Kurt Greenhalgh of Duluth and Jill Greenhalgh (Rolf Dittmann) of Stillwater, as well as three grandchildren: Andrea, Drew and Luke Dittmann, and other family members.
Bob lived in Hudson for 30 years before moving to Croixdale in Bayport 1 ½ years ago. He was very honest, thoughtful, kind hearted, deliberate in his decisions, and respectful to all. He loved British sports cars, reading, the theater, travel, collegiate and professional sports, especially the Minnesota teams, and spending time with family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all.
A funeral service will be held for Bob at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, November 16th at Bethel Lutheran Church, 920 Third St in Hudson. Visitation one hour prior to the service. Pastor Dennis Nelson will officiate. Military honors will be provided by the Hudson VFW & American Legion. Services have been entrusted to O’Connell Family Funeral Home and Countryside Crematory, 715-386-3725.
