Robert “Mower Dr” & “Flute” Snyder

Robert Charles Snyder (AKA “Flute” or Mower Doctor), age 77 of Hudson died unexpectedly Wednesday August 10th at his residence. Robert was born on April 12, 1934 in Akron, Ohio; the son of Millard and Genevieve (Williams) Snyder. Robert is survived by his wife Ann, children Sue (Drew) Cooper, Bock D. Snyder, Petr D. Snyder, Ginger B. Snyder, fourteen grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, Ann’s children Joel Emery Morrison, Sean Charles (Katie) Morrison, and Robert’s sister Carol Jeter. He is preceded in death by his parents.

Robert was married to the former Jackie Boal to which children Sue, Bock, Petr, and Ginger were born. This union would later dissolve. He was an educated man. Dr. Robert Snyder received his education and PHD at Washburn University in Topeka (Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics with minors in astrophysics and German and Bachelor of Music Performance in flute), Indiana University (Master of Music in Woodwind Pedagogy), and the University of Missouri in Kansas City (Doctor of Music History and Literature). He worked as a professor for Eastern Illinois University where he taught music appreciation and flute lessons. He worked here for 30 years before retiring and working as an administrative assistant for Goodyear in Akron for several years.

On June 27, 1998, Robert was married to Ann Eumurian in Suffield, Ohio. For the past ten years, they have made Hudson their home. He enjoyed music; especially classical. He also enjoyed going to estate sales and watching golf on TV. Many local people will remember the Mower Doctor as he fixed many lawnmowers and small engines.

Memorial services for Robert Snyder will be 7PM Thursday August 18th at First Presbyterian Church; 1901 Vine Street in Hudson. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church on Thursday evening. Memorials are preferred. Funeral and cremation services entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Home and Countryside Crematory.
