Ruth A. Hanson, age 94 of Baldwin WI, died on Thursday, May 12th at the Baldwin Care Center. Ruth was born February 18, 1917 in St. Croix County to parents John P. and Josephine H. (Peterson) Thompson. Ruth attended Stillwater High School. On August 12, 1938, Ruth would be united in marriage to Harry E. Hanson.

Besides being a homemaker and a mom, Ruth worked many different jobs as well. Most will remember her from her days working at Eggen’s Market, where she was a stock clerk and a meat cutter. Outside of work, Ruth enjoyed crocheting afghans, quilting, reading, bird watching, flower gardening, walking, and dancing. Ruth also enjoyed watching the Minnesota Twins, and volunteering at the Baldwin Care Center. During the Korean War, Ruth took the time to bake cookies, to her brothers and other servicemen. The life she lived and the love she exemplified will be missed by her family and those who knew her best.

Left to cherish the memories of Ruth are her children, Donna Rademaker of Baldwin WI, Don (Doreen) Hanson of Swaledale IA, Daniel (Sue) Hanson of Baldwin WI, and Dean (LuAnn) Hanson of Clear Lake IA; seventeen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; siblings, Bernice Dodds, and John (Evelyn) Thompson; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Harry; infant daughter Darlene Marie Hanson; son-in-law, Gayle Rademaker; brothers Lloyd Thompson, and Gerald Thompson Sr.; sisters, Viola Dittmar, Hazel Mueller, and Lucille Jahns.

Funeral Services for Ruth Hanson will be held at 11:00AM on Monday, May 16th at the Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Baldwin, with Pastor Lowell Bolstad officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church, and also from 5:00-7:00PM on Sunday at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 1010 Newton Street, in Baldwin. A private family burial will be held at a later date. Services have been entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Home and Countryside Crematory of Baldwin WI. 715-684-3434
