Rita Giudice

Rita Ann Giudice, age 88 of Hudson, passed away October 2, 2019 at her residence in the Wintergreen Apartments, with family at her side. Rita was born January 7, 1931 in Slinger, WI to Henry & Rose (Gehl) Faust. She graduated from Riverside High School in Milwaukee. Rita was united in marriage to the love of her life, Roy Giudice on February 14, 1953 in St. Lawrence, WI.

Rita worked many years at the Wisconsin Electric Power Company in Milwaukee, followed by a move to Northern Wisconsin where Rita and Roy owned and operated a bar and restaurant near Summit Lake for many years, with Rita being known for serving a delicious Friday fish fry with her special beer batter recipe.

Rita had an artistic spirit and was a life-long crafter. Rita also enjoyed collecting salt and pepper shakers from her many travels. Rita could spend many hours solving crossword puzzles and word searches, and loved putting together puzzles. What Rita most enjoyed was passing the time with her husband and family. Rita and Roy traveled to many places together, including Germany, Alaska, Canada and many areas of the United States. Rita’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the lights of her life, and Rita’s memory will live on in them and all others who had the joy of knowing her.

Rita will remain in the hearts of her husband of 66 years, Roy; children, Jody Bakken of North Hudson, and John Giudice of Stacy, MN; grandchildren, Amanda (Lee) Felter and Adam (Amanda) Bakken; great-grandchildren, Zachary and Bennett Felter, Samuel and Owen Bakken; sister, Clare “Schatzee” (Don) Scoles; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Rose; sisters, Beatrice and Helen; and brother, Raymond.

A memorial service to celebrate Rita’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 11th, at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 520 S. 11th St., Hudson. A gathering of family and friends will take place 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N.
