Renée Sophie Glaubitz, age 93, of River Falls, WI, formerly of Stone Mountain Georgia, died September 23, 2020. Renée was born on February 2, 1927, in Mystic Connecticut to Francis and Hermine (Exner) Kahl. She grew up in Connecticut, graduating from Robert E. Fitch Senior High School in Mystic and received a Bachelor’s degree in Music from Yale. She was united in marriage to Kurt Glaubitz, on November 26, 1949 and the couple were blessed with a son, Mark, and daughter, Ilana.

Renée was an accomplished pianist and music teacher and was V.P. of programs for 16 years with the Decatur Music Teachers Association. She also played and taught at numerous colleges and universities. With her husband, the two taught at Earlham College in Richmond IN, Queens College and Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte NC. They also played together in the Charlotte Symphony. The couple’s musical talent was often accompanied by Renée’s great sense of hospitality. Gatherings of musicians and friends, as well as eating and playing music together are fond memories held by her family. Renée had an excellent gift for bringing out the best in all those around her. Whether it was visiting the homebound, educating her music students, or teaching young southern girls how to sew without prejudice, Renée, was a light and beautiful flower to everyone she encountered.

Renée is survived by her children; Mark (Beth) Glaubitz of Woodstock, Georgia, and Ilana (Gerry) Benusa of River Falls, Wisconsin, and three grandkids; John, Christopher, and Kristin.

She is preceded by her husband of 60 years, Kurt. Memorials preferred to the National M.S. Society in her name.

A private family gathering honoring Renée will be held on Saturday, Oct. 10th at 1 p.m.
