Gerald Butler

Gerald Norman Butler, age 81, of Hudson, WI passed away on Thursday April 22, 2021 at Regions Hospital in St. Paul.

Jerry was a 1957 graduate of Roosevelt High School, Minneapolis, where he starred on the state high school basketball championship teams of 1956 and 1957. He then went on to play for the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers for three years. He was a long-time member of the University’s ‘M’ Club. Jerry attended Law school at Minnesota then went into business for himself, first producing industrial adhesives, and later very successfully doing commercial real estate development. In his retirement years, he spent a lot of time doing online investing and research.

Jerry is survived by his devoted wife and partner of over 30 years, Terry MJ Butler (Bush). Son retired USAF Col. Mathew (Nicole) Butler of Destin, FL, step-children, Andrew (Suzi) Clancy of Mesa, AZ, Barbara (Ronald) Clark of Woodbury, MN, Michael (Rebecca) Clancy of Lindstrom MN, and Terry A Butler of Duluth, MN who considered Jerry his only father. He was a wonderful grandfather to Steven Clancy, Aaron and Tyler Clark, Cole and Carter Butler, and Bridget, Julie, Ginger, Jack, and Sean Clancy. He will be greatly missed by his siblings, Douglas (Susan) Butler of Rochester, MN, and Dr. Janis (Larry) Butler Rollow of Dallas, TX. He was a giant of a man, kind and friendly to his niece, Elizabeth Balsiger of Marina Del Rey, CA, nephews, Christopher (Pam) Butler of Duluth, Bradley (Joni) Butler of Mound, MN, Jeffry (Amy) Butler of St. Joseph, MO, and Robert (Lori) Balsiger of Dallas.  Jerry is preceded in death by his son Cole Conrad Butler and his parents Norman and Hazel.

A private family memorial is being planned for later this summer.
