Austin Mutschler, age 21 of Hudson, adored son of Jeff and Kelli Mutschler of Hudson, Jerry Brainerd of Eau Claire, Eileen Wirsing of Chicago, big brother to Bailey and Kiara Mutschler of Hudson and Paris Brainerd of Eau Claire, passed away unexpectedly April 6th in Eau Claire, WI.

Austin was born January 30, 1995 in Stillwater, MN.  He lived his earliest years in Eau Claire, WI and then moved to Coon Rapids, MN in 1998.  In 2000 the family moved to Hudson where Austin attended E.P. Rock Elementary School, Hudson Middle School and was a 2013 graduate of Hudson High School.  While in high school Austin was on the freshmen basketball team, played summer baseball and was active in the ski club.  After high school Austin attended UW-Milwaukee for 1 year and was working towards returning to school.  The family attends Bethel Lutheran Church in Hudson and Austin was part of their 2010 confirmation class. 

Austin was a brilliant, witty young man with a tender heart who absolutely adored animals and deeply loved each of the family pets.  Austin loved music of all kinds. He had a wide range of musical interests from Kid Cudi to Arctic Monkeys to Frank Sinatra that he liked to listen to, discuss, and analyze.  He also liked to compose songs, play the drums, guitar and keyboards.  He was a terrific singer if you were lucky enough to hear him do it – he was too shy to sing in front of others.  Austin liked reading, poetry, lyrics, art and personal introspection.  He was a deep thinker and great writer.

Austin is survived by his parents Jeff and Kelli Mutschler of Hudson, Jerry Brainerd of Eau Claire, WI, and Eileen Wirsing of Chicago, IL.  Sisters Bailey and Kiara Mutschler of Hudson and Paris Brainerd of Eau Claire.  Grandparents Dwight and Marcy Wolter of New Richmond, Donae Steffen and Dan Weilander of Star Prairie, Debi and Stephen Smith of Biloxi, MS, Jack and Karen Mutschler of Gold Canyon, AZ, Carol Brainerd of Eau Claire, Chip and Judy Wirsing of Virginia Beach, VA.   Aunts and uncles Syd Mutschler of New Orleans LA, Brett and Nate Nelson of New Richmond, Jacy Wolter and Katie Knutson of Star Prairie, Rod Brehm and Betsie Niebes of Woodbury, MN, Stacey Brehm Haslow of Eau Claire, Mel and Scott Bartig of Eau Claire, Kari Brehm of Eau Claire, Laurie Brainerd and Chuck Wiggington of San Antonio, TX.  In addition, there are many extended family members.

Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at Bethel Lutheran Church – Highlands Campus, 504 Frontage Rd, Hudson with a visitation held two hours prior to the service at the church, starting at 11:00 a.m. Memorial donations may be directed to Coco’s Heart Dog Rescue in Hudson, WI.
