Arlene Bernice Janacek, a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, passed away at Christian Community Homes in Hudson, WI, on September 2, 2024.

Born in Milwaukee, WI on August 29, 1928, Arlene’s greatest gift to her family was her ability to love unconditionally. She always put the needs of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren first and foremost. She had the uncanny ability to know what each family member needed and unselfishly delivered with love and grace – whether it was sitting on the floor and playing with great-grandchildren, taking grandchildren to and from sporting events and musical performances or encouraging her children to always excel and pursue their dreams.

Arlene passed on the value of hard work to all those around her. She started working part-time in the local elementary school kitchen and rose to become a school lunch manager for one of the largest high schools in Milwaukee. She was responsible for thousands of lunches served daily both locally and sent out to other schools. She managed and trained a staff of over 25 and performed every cooking, baking, or ordering chore without question and without complaint. Hard work always drove Arlene. One of her favorite sayings was, “I got this.” She also delighted in preparing delicious meals for her loved ones, passing on family recipes.

Arlene found joy in simple things – hearing a bird sing, enjoying the sun on her face, playing her accordion or being outside in nature. She didn’t ask for material things but loved a cup of black coffee any time of the day and a glass of red wine occasionally at night. She loved watching the Packers play each year, but found it easier to watch the games when they were winning. She was always kind and had quick wit to the end. She had a wonderful smile, sense of humor and will be missed by all who knew her, but especially by her family.

Arlene’s memory will forever be treasured by her children Calene Janacek, Calvin (Kathy) Janacek;

Grandchildren Justin (Macy) Janacek, Stephanie (Andrew) Aplin, Michelle (Stan) Schoenecker, Brian Janacek, Jake Janacek;

Great-grandchildren Charli, Camron, George, Jordi, Jack, Graham, Ben, Jerry, Crew, Vanessa Tucker;

She is preceded in death by parents Charles and Luella Zajichek; sister Janice; and brother Chuck.

Service will be a private celebration for immediate family.
