Karen Georgakas
Office Administrator
Karen was born in Fargo, ND and raised in the small west central Minnesota town of Campbell. She graduated from University of MN – Moorhead with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and Special Education concentration. It was at college that Karen met her future husband, Steve. After graduating they moved to Plainfield, IL, Steve’s hometown. After two years they decided to move to Minneapolis to be more centrally located to their families. And then after deciding to start a family they made Ellsworth their new “home”.
Karen worked for RiverTown Newspaper Group for over 25 years. She brings her experience in accounting and management to O’Connell Funeral Home as the Office Administrator. Karen feels fortunate to be a working with such caring and passionate people that provide exceptional service to our families in need.
Karen and her husband Steve, have 3 children and 2 grandchildren: Darren and his wife Taylor, their daughters Nora and Noelle, James and his wife Whitney and Alexandra (Zandra). They also have a Bichon (Skeeter) and a Rat Terrier/Chihuahua mix (Zuno). Karen enjoys reading, decorating for the different holidays, watching Minnesota sports teams, especially baseball since both of her boys play for the Hubbers, the amateur baseball team in Ellsworth. Karen is happiest when she is hanging out with her family and friends for game nights, brewery and winery tours, and time spent at their lake cabin in Minnesota.
