Bernard “Bernie” Barr age 85 of Danbury, formerly of Hudson died peacefully February 16th, 2020 at his home with his family by his side. Bernie was born on October 2, 1934 in Hudson, Wisconsin; the son of Ernest and Gladys (Johnson) Barr. He was raised in Hudson graduating from Hudson High in the class of 52’. He then enlisted in the armed forces where he proudly served in the United States Army. On June 11, 1955, he was united in marriage to Corinne Trudeau at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Hudson. This union would be blessed with seven children. Bernie was a proud employee of Andersen Windows. He worked there for thirty-eight years and as a result was a member of the prestigious Quarter Century Club. He would retire as manager of ordering and billing.
Bernie was all about faith and family. Nothing gave him prouder moments than hanging with the family cheering on the Green and Gold or tooling around Bass Lake on the Pontoon. Bernie had great memories of deer camp with the Barr boys, attending a couple Super bowls, or simply watching all the laughter at the holiday’s dinners with family. What was so loveable about Bernie is that he was a simple man who greeted you with a smile and genuinely cared how you were doing. Bernie enjoyed golf, but quite possibly more, was the fellowship of good friends at the clubhouse. He was so endeared at the Tenth Hole at Sand Greens Golf Course that they named a sandwich after him; the Bernie Sandwich. He also enjoyed bowling and dune buggying with the grandchildren in local parades. More recently, he appreciated the quiet moments watching Wheel of Fortune and the Price Is Right.
Bernie will forever hold a spot in the hearts of his children Michael (Tracy) Barr, Gerald (Sharon) Barr, Richard (Sandy) Barr, Jeffrey (Jenifer) Barr, Jacqueline (William Jr.) Franklin, Teresa (Mark) McDaniel, Kathryn (Daryl) Lindstrom, 15 grandchildren: Luke (Lizzie), Levi, Jesse, Jill (Mickey), James (Jenny), Thomas, Carrie Lee (Kevin), Alex (Marissa), Bryan, Katrina (Matt), Vince, David, Sam, John, Jessica; 15 great grandchildren; sister Anna Marie (Jerry) Bridges, and brother Chuck (Audrey) Barr, as well as many nieces, nephews, and countless friends.
