Daniel Martinez

Daniel Rey Martinez, age 60 of North Hudson, WI passed away unexpectedly March 26th, 2021 at his residence. Dan was born on June 21, 1960, in St. Paul, MN; the son of Rudolph and Frances (Smith) Martinez. He attended JJ Hill Elementary prior to Park High School in Cottage Grove. He worked for the City of St. Paul in their public works department as well as Xcel Energy installing pipelines as a service technician. On May 5, 2017, he was united in marriage to Ramona Kay Schaefer in Maui, Hawaii. They have made North Hudson their home as he was very fond of the scenic St. Croix River Valley. Most recently, he enjoyed his time as a cook for the Village Inn in North Hudson.

Dan was an outdoorsman. He enjoyed time spent deer hunting with friends and family on the Iron Range or pan fishing in Walker, MN. Earlier in life, he looked forward to playing slow pitch softball or bowling at the Sun Ray Lanes. One of his greatest joys was jumping on his Harley and taking in all the beauty of the countryside. In fact, he has seen more of Wisconsin than people that have lived here their entire lives. He enjoyed barbequing on his smoker grill and catching some great bands, only to find himself on the dance floor before too long.

Dan is survived by the love of his life Ramona; children Brittany Martinez, Antonio Martinez; his dad Rudolph Martinez; siblings Rudolph (Laura) Martinez, Jennifer (Gene) Severtson, William Martinez, Michelle Martinez, Richard (Bonny) Martinez; step-son Benjamin Houston, as well as a host of nieces and nephews. His mother Frances precedes him in death.

A Celebration of Life for Dan will be held on Friday, April 2nd from 4-7pm at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 520 So. 11th Street, Hudson. Private services and burial will be held. Memorials will be to the discretion of the family and may be sent to the funeral home. www.oconnellfuneralhomes.com.
