Elmer E. Alling, age 80, of Hudson, WI, passed away on September 21, 2014 at Heritage of Elmwood, following a battle with Alzheimers.
Elmer was born on June 23, 1934 in Shell Lake, WI to Arthur and Carrie (Bass) Alling. Elmer grew up with his 9 brothers and sisters in Shell Lake, and following his education, worked on their family farm. Elmer moved to Turtle Lake, Amery, Balsam Lake, and then to Hudson, where he made his home and became a longtime resident.
Elmer was a friendly man, and many knew him as the “bike man” of Hudson. He road his bike everywhere, no matter the season! He was also known as a “Jack of all Trades” and enjoyed working on automobiles. For many years, Elmer worked for Nor-Lake Refrigeration.
He is survived by his brother, Albert (Margaret) Alling of Golden Valley, AZ; sister, Caroline (Edward) Thompson of Bakersfield, CA; and many nieces and nephews, especially George Jr. (Tammy) Alling of Clayton, WI, and Michael Alling of Amery, WI.
He is preceded in death by his father, Arthur in 1959; his mother, Carrie in 1991; his brother, George in 2004; his sister, Evelyn in 2011; his brother, Walter in 2012; and his brother, Robert in 1994.
Private interment will be in Amery Cemetery.
