Ellsworth WI,

Greg Koller, a beloved son, friend, and proud Lion’s Club member, departed from this world on September 22, 2023, at the tender age of 53 at Kinnic Health and Rehab in River Falls.

Born on May 23, 1970, in the picturesque town of Red Wing, the cherished son of Raymond and Joyce (Dusterhoft) Koller. Greg’s educational journey began at St. Francis Parochial School, where he laid the foundation of a devoted catholic faith. He later graduated from Ellsworth High School in the class of 1989.

One of Greg’s greatest joys in life was his work at Hincks Grocery in Ellsworth, where he managed the frozen foods section with dedication and a friendly smile. His warm demeanor and helpful nature endeared him to both customers and co-workers alike.

But Greg’s love for his community extended beyond the aisles of the grocery store. He was a proud member of the Ellsworth Lions Club, where he eagerly volunteered his time and efforts. His favorite moments included helping with parking at the Pierce County Fair and helping organize the annual fishing contest at Nugget Lake. Greg’s infectious enthusiasm and genuine desire to serve filled his heart and served as an inspiration within the club. He was a past recipient of the Melvin Jones Award which is a recognition by Lion’s International to an individual’s dedication and humanitarian efforts to help others. His legacy of kindness, community spirit, and his ever-present smile will forever inspire.

He now joins his beloved grandparents: William and Elsie Koller; Rubin and Anna Dusterhoft; his uncles: Alvin Dusterhoft, James Dusterhoft, Vernon Dusterhoft, Wayne Dusterhoft; and aunts: Marcella Koller, Arlene (Leroy) Denzer, Donna Appelhans, and Anne Svard, who have gone before him.

In his memory, may we continue to serve our communities, just as he did with unwavering dedication and boundless compassion. He leaves behind his Parents Raymond and Joyce Koller; Siblings: Teresa (Alan) O’Connell; Philip Koller; Tim Koller; William (Joan) Koller; Mary (Travis) Ayala; Nephews: Christopher and Shawn O’Connell, Jeremy and Mason Koller, Alexander Ayala and Niece: Kayleigh Ayala. Numerous Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.

Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Greg’s life will noon, Tuesday, October 3rd at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Ellsworth. Visitation will be one hour prior to the mass at church on Tuesday morning. The service will be livestreamed at – Greg Koller Mass of Christian Burial.  Memorials will be used to further and continue Greg’s passions in life. Following this passing, he continued his giving by donating his body’s tissues which in return will help countless families. Even after death, he gives us a powerful reminder to help others and the impact you can have in our community by giving. Cremation and memorial services entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Ellsworth.

  1. Sorry to hear about Greg’s passing. I have not seen him in awhile but I remember him as a very friendly person and a joy at our uncle and aunt’s holiday parties when we were young. Rest in peace Greg.
